4. The Colour GREEN
When we consider our basic, or major, seven chakras or psychic centers, we imagine the colours of the rainbow. The fourth colour we can consider is green, located at the site of the human heart. It is located in the centre of the chest just behind the ribcage.
The heart chakra is the site of unconditional love. It is the place of affection, deep caring and nurturing. This is where the energy for radiating affection, respect, feelings of generosity, forgiveness and sensitivity for the feelings of others is located. When we are ill, distressed, angry or feeling unsupported, ignored and unloved, this chakra often is in a state of disharmony. To someone who can ‘see’ the aura, the colour green may appear weak, pale, scattered, lop-sided or even non-existent. To one who can see the actual chakras, the green colour may appear pale and insipid and the chakra itself may be very small and/or misshapen. At other times it may also be boldly much larger, out of proportion and overly dark to the point of appearing brown or nearly black.
Close your eyes. Imagine a beautiful meadow with lush, green grass surrounded by a forest of green, or imagine a favourite pure green object. Slowly counting to four, breathe that pure green hue in through your nose. While holding your breath for a count of five, six or seven (whichever you are able to comfortably maintain), allow it to course down to the bottom of your spine then rise and settle at the heart area in the centre of your chest. Breathe out through your mouth for a count of five, six or seven (again, whichever is most comfortable). As you exhale, visualize that the breath has picked up any deep-seated anxieties and toxins and is releasing those into the air and away from you. Repeat the breath work, noticing how the green light softly yet strongly illuminates the chest area of your torso. As you become comfortable with the routine of breathing, notice how the light illuminates that area like a band of beautiful green light surrounding your chest. Visualize the green light gently bathing your heart as well as the pericardial fluid surrounding your heart. Feel it soothing this powerful organ, freeing any negativity and opening you to the love you hold for yourself and for others. Feel the respect you have for yourself. Bathe in the feeling of love and forgiveness. Feel the power of the freedom to make loving choices. You can feel your heart chakra anchor and stabilize. You feel strong, capable and powerful. You ARE strong, capable and powerful. You are LOVE!
Practice this meditation for ten to fifteen minutes, for three consecutive days if possible. Keep a journal and make notes of any changes you may notice in your well-being.
