5. The Colour INDIGO
When we consider our basic, or major, seven chakras or psychic centers, we imagine the colours of the rainbow. The sixth colour we can consider is indigo, located at the centre of your forehead.
The third eye chakra is the site of intuition. It is the place of clear seeing or sensing on a level other than physical; on a psychic level. This is where the energy for intuitively ‘knowing’ is located. It is the place of being mindful on a deeply intuitive level, from one moment to another. When we are ill, distressed, angry or feeling unsupported and ignored, this chakra often is in a state of disharmony. To someone who can ‘see’ the aura, the colour indigo may appear weak, pale or even non-existent. To one who can see the actual chakras, the indigo colour may appear washed-out and pale and the chakra itself may be very small and/or misshapen. At other times it may also be boldly much larger, out of proportion and overly harsh to the point of appearing black and imposing.
Close your eyes. Imagine a completely clear, almost navy-blue, night sky with just a few stars visible. The indigo sky is overlooking a sleepy village where all lights are off. Or, imagine a favourite indigo object. Slowly counting to four, breathe that pure indigo hue in through your nose. While holding your breath for a count of five, six or seven (whichever you are able to comfortably maintain), allow it to course down to the bottom of your spine then rise and settle at the centre of your forehead. Breathe out through your mouth for a count of five, six or seven (again, whichever is most comfortable). As you exhale, visualize that the breath has picked up any deep-seated anxieties and toxins and is releasing those into the air far away from you. Repeat the breath work, noticing how the indigo light softly illuminates your forehead. As you become comfortable with the routine of breathing, notice how the light illuminates and surrounds your head like a radiant headband of beautiful indigo light. Visualize the indigo light gently bathing and softly warming your pituitary gland, freeing any negativity and fully opening you to the power of communication on a deep and spiritual level. Feel the awareness you have of your own uniqueness and the uniqueness of others. You can sense the power of your inner guidance system and of the depth of your conscience as a human being who is filled with goodness. You are aware of the difference between truth and illusion. Feel your third eye chakra anchor and stabilize. You feel strong, capable and powerful. You ARE strong, capable and powerful.
Practice this meditation for ten to fifteen minutes, for three consecutive days if possible. Keep a journal and make notes of any changes you may notice in your well-being.
